Our Ponies

We always keep an eye open for suitable RDA ponies, very old ponies are not suitable, the work is harder than it may look. A combination of the right size, shape and temperament is very hard to find. We will buy or loan. When buying ponies we always ask for a minimum 2 week trial period to ensure that the pony is suitable for our very special work.

Snoopy - one of the ponies at Cranleigh RDA Snoopy is a 15.1hh fleabitten grey, Connemara cob . He is 16 years old and loaned to us by one of our volunteers. He joined us in Spring 2010 coming from a private owner in the Isle of Sheppey, right near the sea! Snoopy carries our heaviest riders (up to 12 stone) and his steady reliability, gentle demeanour and sweet nature make him eminently suitable for work with us.

Perdigau - one of the ponies at Cranleigh RDA Born in 2003, Perdigau is a 14hh grey pony who came to us from the Camargue region of France, a gift of the Anglo French Charity SLL (Sete Lorient London). Perdigau was ridden with 9 other Camargue ponies over 1000 miles on a 5 month journey up through France over the spring and summer of 2008, arriving at Cranleigh in October, quite weary! Perdigau is sweet natured and highly intelligent and is settling to life in his new home at CRDA and the third set of companions of his short life. We hope that Casi’s Farm will be his home for the rest of his life.

Blue - one of the ponies at Cranleigh RDA Blue  is on loan to the group and is a much loved family pony. He is tiny at 12hh with very small ears and is a huge favourite with riders. He loves people and is extremely tolerant of any attention he receives. Many feel they would like to take him home in their car boot. However, although very small, he can go quite fast when out hacking, few can keep up with him.

Rafferty - one of the ponies at Cranleigh RDA Rafferty  is an excellent RDA Pony. He is intelligent, obedient, forward going and very tolerant. He is a lightweight piebald cob of 14hh who is quick to learn and is particularly good to use with our electronic hoist for wheelchair bound riders. He was bought for us by Seafare Fish and Chips of Cranleigh in 2007.

Kestrel - one of the ponies at Cranleigh RDA Kestrel  is a 14hh high Dun coloured Highland pony. He has been a family pony with the same owner for many years and is a very affectionate and gentle pony who loves people. He is a favourite of many nervous riders as he seems to be genuinely interested in them and lets them pat and stroke him endlessly.

Hamish - one of the ponies at Cranleigh RDAHamish   Hamish is a liver chestnut, 14.2hh Highland pony and a super weight carrier. He has a delightful temperament, is sweet natured and very popular due to his good looks.
